Community Association Institute: Kentucky Chapter
President's Message

February 9, 2011

It is my pleasure to serve as President of the Kentucky Chapter of Community Associations Institute (CAI-KY) for 2011.  This is an exciting time for the Chapter and I want to personally invite everyone to be a part of it.

Our charter is one of the 59 chapters nationwide.  Since our certification in December, 2008, our Chapter has worked diligently in promoting a new Kentucky Condominium Act. This legislation passed in 2010, and it went into law effective January 1, 2011. Our Chapter is already working on a clean-up bill to further enhance and refine this new law. It is also our goal to implement laws which will assist with other types of community associations, in the near future.

Since our inception, CAI-KY has grown in membership and participation at various Chapter events and programs.  We have held several luncheons in the Louisville area, and hosted several evening programs on the Kentucky Condominium Act at various locations statewide.  For those of you not located in the Louisville area, we will be expanding and adding additional programming into other areas of the state in the near future, and we welcome your input and assistance in this regard.

In addition to our programming, we've implemented an Annual Chapter Sponsorship program to help our business partner/service provider segment network with those who may be in need of their services.  The program currently offers three levels of sponsorship benefits that are ongoing for a full year.  There are also opportunities for sponsorship of Chapter luncheons.

In January, 2011, the Chapter retained the services of Kimm Hudson, as our new Executive Director.  We welcome Kimm and already see exciting things ahead with her great energy and enthusiasm. We are also very excited to announce the launch of our updated website.  Bookmark www.cai-ky.net to keep up to date on Chapter events, legislative and regulatory information, to access useful resources and tools and download membership and sponsorship information.  We've made it easy to register for events online via the Events Calendar as well as individual pages for each event.  There is also contact information and important links, including an online Service Directory.

We hope you will enjoy the enhancements made to your Kentucky Chapter membership and encourage you to become more active by participating in programs and events and by volunteering within the Chapter.  We have several great programs coming up in the next few months.  Visit the website and check them out.  We hope to see you there!

As always, if you have questions about membership, activities or any aspect of your relationship with the Chapter, feel free to contact me, any other board member or our Executive Director.  We're easy to find on the website and are here to help if needed.

Sincerely,

Richard V. Hornung
